Who or what is Artist Studios at Fearrington Village?
Artist Studios at Fearrington Village, is a community of visual artists who have come together to support one another, promote their art, open their studios and share their vision of Fearrington Village as an Arts Destination.
Why is this group different from other art groups?
ASFV’s vision is to create and strengthen the bond of community for artists living and working in Fearrington Village. We accept all media and levels of experience.
What do you mean by an Art Destination?
Art Destinations are communities or locations that arts enthusiasts travel to with one goal in mind... they want to explore and be part of the creative environment. In order to become an art destination the location must present a selection of aesthetically pleasing, thought-provoking and/or visually stimulating art. It must allow visitors to exchange ideas and experience the creative process.
Who can join ASFV?
We welcome all Fearrington and Galloway Ridge residents interested in creating original art and fine crafts.
Do artists need to be juried in?
No. Not to become a member but some exhibits and events may be juried.
Is there a fee to join?
Yes. A small membership fee is required. Participating members share the expenses of events and exhibits.
Do all the artists have a studio?
Yes. While many members have dedicated studios, others use community space or their kitchen table. If they are creating art in their home or within the community, they have a “studio”.
Are all the members’ studios open to the public?
No, Each Artist decides if they wish to open their studio, by appointment only or during our open studio events.
Must the artists sell their work?
No. Some members exhibit and sell their work locally, nationally and/or internationally extensively, while others create art for the pure joy of the creative process.
Are all studios handicap accessible?
No. If this is a concern, ask the artists when planning a studio tour.
Does the group take a commission on work sold in the studios?
No. By purchasing directly from the artist art buyers becomes a true arts patron.
Does the group offer classes or workshops?
Several of the artists do. Contact them directly or watch for announcements on our webpage and blog.
What are the Artist Salons?
Each month members open their studios to ASFV members. They discuss their work and may offer a demonstration.
